MISSION AND HISTORY

The Tapestries Group is a Support Group dedicated to providing spiritual, emotional, finanical and educational support services for parents whose child died of a homicide. All parents suffering the loss of a child are encouraged to visit. This is a place of healing.

We support families of all cultures; hence we make up a Tapestry. We believe the primary healing source is in a support group setting. Won't you consider joining our group of commonality, bonding and friendship.

In 2007, Candace's son Marcus was killed in his Stone Mountain, GA Apartment. This turned her world upside down. With the bond she was able to created with parents who suffered as she did understanding her pain and grief Candace was able to believe again and know that life could still be abundant.  Candace  now live to bring him honor while helping so many others do the same.  Candace was asked and accepted the position as Chapter Leader for this much needed cause. She has dedicated her self to helping as many as she can in putting their lives back together. Therefore the Tapestries Group was formed.

In 2013 Brenda's son Denarold was killed in his home, Riverdale, GA. The amazing story of these two women, not only did they both loose their only son's at the young ages of 22 and 29, but many years prior they worked together. Candace and Brenda were good friends, but as life would have it, they lost contact.  It was one morning Candace was walking on the treadmill and looking at the news that she saw her old friend talking to a reporter about the recent death of her son and help finding the killer.  In Candace own words she almost fell off the treadmill. Candace started the journey to find her friend because she knew her pain. It was the workplace they once worked  that Candace was put in contact with an employee still there who put her on the path to finding her friend.  Two or three days later she was calling her phone. A beautiful and much needed friendship was rekindle.

Candace shared her story with her friend about the death of her son and how she is now working to help others put their lives back together while still honoring their loved ones.  Its not always just the parent that need help. The grandparents, sibling, family and friends all come to the Tapestries Group for support. Candace posted the position for an Event Planner and Fundraiser. Brenda applied for the position because she has experience as an  Event Planner. Candace hired her.   Now together the two are working tirelessly  with the same passion of helping others because they know their pain, but they also know they can have abundant beautiful lives again.
